Impactful Middle School Counselor & Student Coach

Must pass and acceptable background check.

School counselors play a vital role in fostering students' academic, social, and emotional development. Their responsibilities align with state standards and are guided by the Tennessee School Counselor Association.

Middle school counselors are expected to:?

• Academic Support

  Assist students in course selection, goal setting, and academic planning.

• Social-Emotional Development

  Provide individual and group counseling to address personal issues, peer relationships, and emotional well‑well-being.

• Career Exploration
  :
  Guide students in exploring career interests and postsecondary options.

• Crisis Intervention
  :
  Offer support during crises and collaborate with external agencies when necessary.

• Collaboration
  :
  Work with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success.

• Program Development
  :
  Implement and evaluate school counseling programs that promote a positive school culture.

To serve as a school counselor, candidates must:?

• Hold a master's degree in school counseling.

• Obtain and maintain Tennessee state certification for school counseling.

• Adhere to ethical standards.
