What a Job Coach doesThe Job Coach supports individuals from Vocational Rehabilitation programs, SNAP participants, and walk‑in participants. The role includes personalized coaching, training, and skill development to help participants secure meaningful employment.
Key Responsibilities- Align actions with the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Maintain confidentiality of agency, employee, and participant information.
- Conduct initial assessments to determine participants’ skills, abilities, and employment goals.
- Develop individualized training and employment plans in collaboration with participants.
- Provide on‑the‑job training and coaching in various work settings.
- Teach job‑specific skills, workplace etiquette, and appropriate behaviors.
- Assist participants in developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem solving.
- Offer continuous support and encouragement throughout the training period.
- Address challenges or barriers to training and monitor progress.
- Ensure compliance with program guidelines and requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of participant activities, progress, and outcomes.
- Prepare and submit regular reports as required by the program and funding sources.
- Coordinate with Vocational Rehabilitation staff, SNAP coordinators, and other program staff to ensure comprehensive support for participants.
- Communicate with the Employment and Training team and Program Manager to discuss participant progress and resolve issues.
- Travel locally when needed and perform site visits as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor’s degree preferred).
- 1‑2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment (preferably in vocational rehabilitation or job coaching).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and motivate participants.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others succeed.
- Knowledge of job training principles, vocational rehabilitation techniques, and workplace accommodations.
- Ability to adapt instruction methods to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry.
- Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and ability to pass an MVR check.
- Adherence to program goals and outcomes.
- Instructional outcomes.
- Attendance, punctuality, and overall effectiveness in working relationships with stakeholders.
- Accuracy and timeliness of documentation, reports, and summaries.
- Effectiveness in addressing training participants’ needs.
- Completion of assigned duties.
