Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) - Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee
Location: Cumberland Furnace

Bring your passion for supporting students with hearing challenges to a vibrant educational community dedicated to inclusive learning. This contract opportunity is perfect for educators experienced as Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH), ready to engage with students across a K-12 caseload in a dynamic, consultative capacity. Assignments will serve various schools within a district recognized for its commitment to deaf education, featuring specialized hubs for Pre-K through Middle School and serving a diverse group of learners.

Starting August 3, 2026, and continuing through May 28, 2027, you'll work full-time (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday) in onsite settings only. The specific number of school assignments may shift to meet program needs, ensuring a varied and engaging experience. This position is driven by collaboration, consultation, and providing direct support to students and school personnel alike.

Key Qualifications and

Experience:
  • Valid Tennessee Department of Education licensure in Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction
  • Demonstrated experience teaching or consulting with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Knowledge of best practices for deaf education, including current assistive technology and accommodations
  • Willingness to undergo and pass Tennessee fingerprinting and background requirements
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude
Core Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and support teams to develop student-centered education plans
  • Consult and provide resources for classroom teachers to ensure successful inclusion
  • Deliver direct instruction and support tailored to individual needs
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as needed
  • Contribute to the establishment and growth of DHH hubs across district schools
