Job Overview

Fayette County Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated professional for a School Psychologist position. The role involves developing and implementing strategies and interventions to assist students in succeeding, measuring and interpreting intellectual, adaptive, academic, social, and emotional development, interpreting psychological studies, and applying state and federal codes.

Location & Term

Somerville, TN. Term: 10 months.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Education.
  • Valid Tennessee K‑12 School Psychologist license.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Effective decision‑making and verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of professional competence in the field.
Responsibilities
  • Administers standardized and/or supplemental assessments to measure student development and determine eligibility for services in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assesses students' functional capabilities and home/classroom environments to determine functional level and develop recommendations and/or placement.
  • Compiles information from multiple sources to produce comprehensive screening/evaluation reports in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Counsels students, parents, and guardians to enhance student success in school.
  • Consults with teachers, parents, and other professionals to provide requested information, develop plans for services, and make recommendations.
  • Interprets data within Response to Intervention frameworks, offering interventions and determining eligibility.
  • Researches resources and methods to determine the appropriate approach for addressing students' functional goals.
  • Supports individualized student instruction to ensure success for all students.
  • Uses student information to make data‑based decisions to achieve growth.
  • Assists other staff in developing and applying student monitoring systems and designing academic and behavioral interventions.
  • Commits to high student achievement and support for all students.
  • Participates in meetings and professional development activities to convey or gather necessary information.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress, communicating expectations, achievements, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepares written materials documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
  • Maintains effective communication with parents and students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by administration.
  • Attendance & Work Schedule

    Employees are expected to arrive on time, maintain regular attendance, and adhere to work schedules. Consistent attendance supports a productive and fair team environment.

    Work Environment

    Standard office setting with a generally clean and healthy surroundings.

    Job duties involve approximately 75% sitting, 15% walking, and 10% standing; occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and fine‑finger dexterity may be required.
