Student Pastor Overview

Church on the Rock is seeking a part‑time (20 hours per week) student pastor to join our ministry team. We are a spirit‑filled, well‑established church with a history in Savannah, Tennessee, looking for a re‑birth into a new generation of people who love God, love each other, and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our new student pastor will have a passion for nurturing students in their walk with Jesus Christ through the development of deep relationships. He must be a self‑starter able to develop and execute a strategic ministry plan within the context of the ministry culture of our church.

Qualifications

A disciple of Jesus Christ committed to personal spiritual growth.

A calling to work with students.

A pastoral heart with a commitment to the local church.

Spiritual gifts in and a passion for student ministry.

Ability to work productively and cohesively with volunteers, parents and church staff.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead a Student ministry built on a love for Jesus Christ.

Ensure that we are making students into disciples who know their identity in Christ.

Identify, invite, train and empower leaders to be a part of student ministries.

Serve as the primary communicator to the church regarding student ministry.

Invest weekly into the lives of students by building relationships with them through the most effective means possible.

Participate in a weekly staff meeting.

Take students on a yearly mission trip.

Get students involved in serving at our church.

Have a strategy to reach unreached students and implement that strategy.

Be a part of the Church on the Rock leadership team, reporting to the senior pastor.

Be willing to fulfill any other duties assigned by the senior pastor.

Maintain a character that represents Christ, edifies the church, and embodies the leadership qualifications outlined 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

Job Skills Required

A heart for and experience in all aspects of leading students to salvation and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

An active member and leader committed to the vision of the church.

Excellent communication and relationship building skills.

A heart for developing others and the ability to give and take direction.
