  • Education and Certification:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in English, Education, or a related field.
    • Valid Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement secondary science/biology
    • Have an acceptable TBI/FBI background check.
  • Responsibilities:
    The Secondary Science Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing standards-based science. The teacher will create engaging learning experiences that promote scientific inquiry, critical thinking, laboratory investigation, and real-world application of biological concepts. Instruction will align with Tennessee Academic Standards for Science and support student achievement, college readiness, and career preparation.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Plan and implement rigorous science instruction aligned with Tennessee Academic Standards.
    • Teach Biology and, as assigned, other secondary science courses such as Environmental Science, Physical Science, or Integrated Science.
    • Develop and deliver lessons incorporating inquiry-based learning, laboratory investigations, and scientific practices.
    • Maintain a safe and effective laboratory environment and ensure adherence to all safety procedures.
    • Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, including students with disabilities, English learners, and advanced learners.
    • Integrate technology, literacy, mathematics, and engineering practices into science instruction.
    • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school personnel regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
    • Participate in professional learning communities, faculty meetings, and school improvement initiatives.
    • Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, and required documentation.
    • Sponsor student activities and perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
    • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the building principal.
