Job SummaryProvides support to the instructional process by serving as a middle school teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students in the classroom and other assigned areas, developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with colleagues, staff, and administrators to address instructional and classroom issues and curriculum development; and responding to inquiries from students, parents, or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.
QualificationsCurrent teacher certification/licenses.
Essential Functions- Administers and develops subject‑specific assessments to evaluate student competency and develop individual learning plans.
- Constructs curriculum in the classroom environment to foster future growth and opportunities for students.
- Advises parents/guardians on student progress and reinforces classroom goals in home environment.
- Assesses student progress toward objectives and gives feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve overall student outcomes and meet classroom objectives.
- Counsels students to improve performance, health status, problem‑solving techniques, and personal issues.
- Differentiates instruction to meet diverse student needs and district requirements.
- Instructs students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.
- Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Monitors students in various educational environments (classroom, grounds, field trips) for safety and positivity.
- Participates in meetings and professional development activities to convey and gather information.
- Prepares written materials (grades, lesson plans, correspondence, examinations, attendance, anecdotal records) to document progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Reports incidents (altercations, suspected abuse, substance abuse, harassment, zero‑tolerance offenses) to maintain safety and comply with law.
- Responds to emergency situations immediately and directs to appropriate personnel.
- Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, students, central office staff to resolve issues.
- Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, or student workers to provide effective classroom programs.
- Supports other classroom teachers by assisting them in implementing curriculum and individual student plans.
- Performs related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.
- Performs all other duties assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, or Director of Schools.
Salary:
Certified pay scale based on years of experience;
General Purpose School Budget line: 71100‑116.
Terms of employment: 200 days.
EvaluationTeam teacher evaluation by school‑level principal.
Physical DemandsSome lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, fine finger dexterity; 40% sitting, 20% walking, 40% standing.
Work ConditionsNormal working environment.
