Position Details: 3 hours per day at 178 days per year and 2 days for 8 hours paid via timesheet for meeting days. Salary Level 10 – $29.99 (25-26 PSE Salary Schedule)

General Summary
This position’s responsibilities are to patrol school property and respond to incidents pertaining to the safety and protection of district students, staff and property.
Essential Functions
Respond to calls pertaining to the safety and protection of district students, staff and property.Provide guidance and instruction to students on the consequences of their actions; discuss options and choices.Patrol areas in and around schools, confront trespassers as necessary, assist in the intervention of individuals committing or suspected of committing crimes on or near school property, assist the principal and staff in dealing with disruptive students.Talk with students and non‑students to gather information on potential problems, confront as appropriate, report violations of laws, district rules and regulations to school authorities.Investigate rumors, activities or incidents likely to occur that are disruptive to the campus environment, including drugs, alcohol, fights, crimes and gang activity; build relationships to promote communication.Inform school and district administration of problems on or adjacent to campuses involving students and non‑students.Assist the principal in responding to incidents involving alcohol, drugs, fights and the confiscation of weapons from students and non‑students.Prepare reports describing situations around the school campus for use in student discipline, law enforcement agencies and courts; maintain records and statistics.Work with local law enforcement and school district officials to enhance campus safety, provide information to staff and students concerning property protection and safety measures, maintain positive working relationships with students, staff and outside agencies.Assist the principal or law enforcement officers in the investigation of crimes; question suspects, witnesses and victims; maintain confidential information as appropriate.Other Functions
May be called on by school administration to transport students with behavioral or health problems.Operate a video camera, two‑way radio, and cellular phone; may drive a district vehicle.Supervise student activities and events such as dances and sports.Serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams; model appropriate and cooperative behavior, protecting confidential information consistent with district ethical guidelines.Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.Work flexible working hours when requested by the principal.Reporting Relationships
Reports to the assigned school principal(s) and receives coordination and guidance from the Risk and Security Manager.
Mental Demands
Confrontational situations require constant awareness and attention to personal safety; require representing the district on potentially controversial matters; may work extended shifts to cover student activities; required to deal with distraught or difficult individuals; may be required to meet deadlines for submitting incident documentation.
Physical Demands
Requires visual concentration and physical dexterity; stand for prolonged periods; work outdoors in inclement weather; exposed to confrontational situations; may be involved with restraint of students or adults. Yearly physical testing is required to ensure ability to perform assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience One (1) year of experience in law‑enforcement field preferred. Training or experience in drug/alcohol abuse awareness, prevention and control preferred; experience with youth preferred; training or experience working with diverse racial, ethnic and cultural groups preferred.
