Summary:

Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer, the Cte Supervisor is responsible for collaboratively working with classroom teachers, school administrators, district leaders, and community leaders to provide instructional, administrative, and strategic leadership to promote effective educational programs, teaching, and learning in career and technical education (Cte) programs, workforce development, and apprenticeships.

Schedule:

Based on the Board approved Certified Supervisor/Program Director Salary Schedule commensurate with relevant experience aligned to the duties and responsibilities of the position. Up to a $6000 advanced degree supplement added to base salary for conferred degrees above a master's degree up to a doctorate. This is a twelve-month, 240 day professional contract position.

Education and/or

Experience:

Minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Hold or be eligible for a Tennessee Teacher License. Hold or be eligible for an Administrator endorsement at time of application. Minimum of five years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience. Proficient in the use of technology including productivity software and a variety of eLearning platforms, including curriculum management systems, teacher observation and evaluation systems, and data reporting systems.

Strong content knowledge and experience in the area of Career and Technical Education (Cte) or a related field, as well as instructional pedagogy and adult learning theory. Experience working with data collection, analysis, and interpretation in an educational setting. Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills. Must have strong skills in organization, planning, implementation, follow through, communication, initiative, leadership, creative thinking, and the ability to work well with multiple areas of occupation within the school district as well as collaboration with community stakeholders.

An understanding of Washington County, regional, and state businesses, employers, and labor market trends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following functions are normal for the position. These functions are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Reports regularly to the Chief Academic Officer and provides him/her with oral reports and/or written summaries regarding the status of curriculum, instruction, assessments, and professional development.
  • Plan, promote and provide support, engagement, and guidance to help students in grades K-12 define their career interests and explore educational opportunities.
  • Develop, prepare, support and supervise district Cte programs to include appropriate alignment and sequence to workforce needs, ensuring quality educators that contribute to the profession, effective career counseling and opportunities for students to demonstrate career readiness.
  • Plan, design, implement and or conduct workshops/sessions for faculty and staff for professional development opportunities related to workforce trends, state updates and student opportunities.
  • Provide opportunities for job shadowing, mentoring, internships, visits to business and industry, and other career awareness activities.
  • Monitor and track student interest areas data and workforce trends to ensure proper Cte programming offerings in the high school.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with postsecondary institutions, workforce development and local business and industry.
  • Responsible for the development and fiscal management of the Perkins budget.
  • Responsible for TDOE quarterly and annual reporting to ensure compliance with the Perkins accountability act.
  • Attend monthly and quarterly Cte director meetings.
  • Assist and support the district grant writer in application, reporting and implementation of awarded funding of career and technical related grants.
  • Assists with the recruitment, the selection, and the placement of teachers in programs within areas of supervision.
  • Serves as the liaison with local, state, and national organizations and groups which focus on programs within areas of supervision.
  • Evaluates instructional materials and equipment, standard requisitions, and assists schools in selecting appropriate instructional materials and equipment.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
