Job DescriptionFull-time; 7 hours per day; 188 paid days per school year (includes 5 paid holidays). Paid days are pro-rated if hiring during the school year.

You must meet the minimum education requirements: 48 college credit hours (semester), associate's or higher degree, or passing score on the Parapro assessment. Attach proof of education to your online application.
Responsibilities- Assist students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom at the elementary or middle school level.
- Work with students in small groups to provide basic reading, math, science instruction, and self‑help skills such as toileting and feeding.
- Provide effective instruction and maintain a high level of energy while interacting with students.
- Observe, record, and correct students’ work assignments; grade and provide feedback.
- Monitor behavior in playground, cafeteria, and common areas and discipline when necessary.
- Assist students with self‑help skills.
- Assist substitute teachers to provide continuity with learning objectives.
- Make copies of learning materials, tests, lesson plans, calendars, and related teaching materials.
- Read stories to small groups of children and convey intended learning objectives.
- Participate in in‑service training activities and field trips.
- Assist with cleaning and organizing assigned classrooms.
- Assist children upon arrival and departure from the school facility and attend to their needs.
- Assist in the execution of emergency drills.
- Conduct art activities and other instructional assignments directed by the classroom teacher.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Minimum education:
48 college credit hours or passing score on the Paraprofessional assessment, supplemented with additional coursework in elementary education. - Experience providing instruction to elementary school‑aged children.
- Ability to interact successfully with students, parents, and co‑workers.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of basic educational and learning curriculum for elementary age children according to established attainment standards.
- Knowledge of basic aptitude and diagnostic tests for elementary school children.
Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for interacting with children in public schools. - Knowledge of basic instructional aides and techniques for instructing elementary age children.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, teachers, and co‑workers.
- Ability to maintain order and discipline with small and large groups.
- Ability to develop lesson plans and supplemental activities for individual students or small groups.
- Ability to administer tests and accurately assess results.
- Ability to organize personal time and activities to meet multiple demands.
- Ability to perform the physically demanding aspects of the job.
- Skill in operating computers, laminating equipment, copiers, video equipment, and related instructional equipment.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
