Contract Duration: 10 months | 200 days

Compensation: Base Pay: $50,000. Actual pay is dependent on the highest degree earned, number of years of relevant experience, and supplements included in the contract.

Minimum Requirements
  • Must pass a background check
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field
  • Possess or be able to acquire an active Tennessee teaching license with endorsement in the appropriate field
  • Preferred
    • Active Tennessee teaching license with endorsement to teach all 9-12 grade level mathematics courses
    • Experience teaching in a relevant subject and grade band
    Other
    • Able to support the school and district through club sponsorship, ongoing professional development, school sports coaching, and/or attendance at extracurricular events
    • Certification (or ability to earn certification) to teach Advanced Placement mathematics courses

    Job Description

    Houston County High School is seeking a Mathematics teacher to deliver state-approved course standards for grades 9-12 by planning, organizing, and implementing rigorous lessons in courses such as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and various electives. In this role, you will differentiate instruction to meet students where they are, using assessments and data analysis to monitor progress and adjust your teaching for maximum impact.

    You'll work with colleagues to refine and apply our math curriculum in alignment with Tennessee academic standards. You'll foster partnerships with parents and guardians through clear, consistent communication about each student's performance and growth opportunities.
