Exceptional Child Education (ECE) programs are designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities. The district provides high‑quality individualized instruction across a breadth of programs for students with moderate to severe disabilities, mild mental disabilities, other health impairments, emotional/behavioral disorders, autism, visual and hearing impairments, learning disabilities, and social communication difficulties.
Salary
Schedule:
Grade 8 at $24.52/hr – $26.96/hr; ECE Instructional Assistant stipend $1.00/hr.
Assists in implementing each student’s Individual Education Plan, helps establish and maintain a pleasant, safe, and structured learning environment, and supports students with disabilities by providing physical assistance and instructional support.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Passing score on the Kentucky Para educator Exam (KPA) or 48 college semester hours.
- Willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.
- Physical ability to assist with students’ positioning, toileting, and lifting needs.
- Willingness to attend district ECE in‑service professional development.
- Effective communication skills.
- High school or GED candidates must take and pass the Kentucky Para educator Assessment Exam. The exam is free, with up to three attempts.
- Applicants with foreign credentials must have their qualifications evaluated by an approved agency before being considered for vacancies.
