Salary Range: $18.27/hr - $20.07/hr
Critical Need Stipend: $3.50/hr & ECE Instructional Assistant Stipend: $1.00/hr
Exceptional Child Education programs are designed to meet the needs of students whose approach to learning differs from that of their peers. The school district is committed to providing a high-quality education for students with disabilities. A variety of programs, techniques, methods, and materials are available and utilized for individualized instruction. Programs are provided to students with disabilities in comprehensive and special education facilities.
Assignments could include students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities (MSD), Mild Mental Disabilities (MMD), Other Health Impairments (OHI), Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (EBD), Autism (AUT), Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI), Learning Disabilities (LD), Social Communication or a combination of each area. Changes in assignment or ECE designation could occur during a school year or between years.
Assists in implementing each student’s Individual Education Plan. Helps establish and maintain a pleasant, safe, and structured learning environment. Displays willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Passing score on the KPA (Kentucky Para educator Exam) or 48 college semester hours.
- Willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.
- Physical ability and willingness to assist with physical needs of students such as positioning, toileting, and lifting.
- Willingness to attend district ECE in‑service for professional growth.
- Effective communication skills.
- If your highest education is High School or GED, you must take and pass the Kentucky Para educator Assessment Exam.
- Applicants with transcripts obtained outside the U.S. will need to have their credentials evaluated prior to referral.
