Extension Assistant II, Lone Oaks Farm - UTIA

Job Description

Work cooperatively with the STEM Director and all Lone Oaks Farm staff in implementing the STEM Education program. This includes teaching math, science, technology, and engineering, and creating curriculum with the STEM Director.

• Provide leadership for a program of activities that meets the needs of all eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, religion or veteran status.
• Assist the 4-H & Youth Development Director in adapting activities and materials for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing the use of the environment and the outdoors as an integrating context in STEM education.
• Set up equipment and prepare materials prior to students’ arrival, and pick up/pack materials and equipment at the end of the day.
• Assist with the supervision and instruction of students.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED, knowledge and experience with technology, including computer skills and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum 1 year of related experience; teaching experience in the sciences and one or more years teaching youth in a class setting (preferred).
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  Strong written and verbal communication skills; enthusiastic and creative minded; clear background check required; valid Tennessee driver’s license.
• Preferred:
  Vocational or technical training; associate’s degree preferred.

Anticipated hiring range: $37,440 - $41,600.
