Requires an active Tennessee teaching license with endorsements for a Junior High School Self‑Contained classroom and the proper qualification to serve as an IEP coordinator.
Job Goals and ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of a special education educator include: creating lesson plans, instructing students according to state standards and their individual IEPs, collaborating with teachers, staff, and administration to address student needs, assessing and monitoring progress, and providing interventions as needed.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- Appropriate Tennessee certification license and endorsement
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Effective decision‑making and verbal and written communication skills
- Highly qualified in special education in the required content area
- Strong attendance record; attendance is an essential function of the job
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the School Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
Performance ResponsibilitiesThe job is conducted in a standard office environment that is generally clean and healthy. The role requires approximately 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing.
Physical RequirementsOccasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine‑finger dexterity. Up to 25% travel may be required to support recruiting activities.
