Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. The position teaches elementary grades, middle grades, or high school.

• Holds or qualifies for a Tennessee Professional or Temporary Teaching Certificate endorsed for physical education at the appropriate grade levels.
• Ability to analyze state assessment results and integrate appropriate activities.

• Prepare lesson plans for review and effective use, correlated with state curriculum standards.
• Use appropriate, data-driven, research-based teaching strategies to teach curriculum standards.
• Analyze state assessment results and integrate physical activities to support the academic program.
• Serve as a positive participant in Professional Learning Communities at school and state levels.
• Assess frequently students’ comprehension and application of curriculum standards.
• Take responsibility for all students’ mastery of applicable standards and significant growth.
• Develop instructional plans and organize class time for a balanced program.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
• Instruct students in proper use and care of equipment.
• Organize storage areas and control material usage.
• Evaluate each student’s performance and prepare progress reports.
• Select and requisition instructional resources and maintain inventory records.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education and self-selected growth activities.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and daily reports.
• Communicate with parents and counselors on student progress.
