High School Teacher – Lifetime Wellness

Fayette County Public Schools invites applications for a Full‑Time High School Teacher in Somerville, TN. The position is 10 months long and is currently open.

Job Details

Reports To: Principal
Term: 10 months

Responsibilities

Prepare lesson plans toward mastery of state standards for grades 9‑12.
Collaborate with faculty, administrators, coaches, and parents to improve student performance.
Provide small‑group instruction, differentiated instruction, and interventions.
Develop, administer, and interpret subject‑specific assessments.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
Maintain a secure classroom climate and respond to inquiries from students, parents, and staff.
Participate in meetings, professional development, and school events.
Use technology effectively in instructional planning and delivery.
Communicate effectively with parents and students regarding academic progress.
Respond to emergency situations and ensure a safe learning environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Performance Responsibilities

Provide an instructional program that is differentiated.

Commit to high student achievement and support for all students.

Show mastery of the subject matter being taught.

Exercise various teaching strategies to enhance students’ critical‑thinking skills.

Create a secure classroom climate and respond to inquiries from diverse sources.

Instruct students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.

Administer and develop subject‑specific assessments to gauge competency and create learning plans.

Participate in professional development and meetings to gather necessary information.

Monitor students in various educational settings to provide a safe, optimal learning environment.

Prepare written materials documenting progress and meeting mandated requirements.

Support other classroom teachers in implementing established curriculum and/or individual student plans.

Respond to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns or direct to appropriate personnel.

Plan, develop, implement, and monitor programs with student success as the goal.

Use technology available within lessons.

Communicate effectively with parents and students.

Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
Active Tennessee teaching license for applicable grade and subject level or eligibility to obtain one.
Highly qualified in the subject area.
Strong organizational skills.
Effective decision‑making, verbal, and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. The role typically involves 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing.

Working Environment

The position is performed in a standard office and classroom environment that is generally clean and healthy.
