ESL Coordinator

The ESL Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for the district's English as a Second Language (ESL) program. The purpose of this role is to ensure that multilingual learners receive high-quality, equitable instruction and support to achieve academic and linguistic proficiency. The coordinator works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to develop, implement, and evaluate effective ESL services that comply with federal and state regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Establish and convey a district ESL program vision and plan
  • Coordinate, supervise, and support the ESL program and ESL personnel
  • Ensure proper identification, assessment, service, and exit path for ELs
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop student ILPs, review student data, and monitor academic and language development progress
  • Attend, coordinate, and present professional development opportunities to support ELs and teachers of ELs
  • Monitor compliance of federal, state, and district policies that impact ELs
  • Generate and maintain required program, student, and parent documentation
  • Maintain EL data on TNPulse and/or ELLevation platform
  • Manage Title III program budget
  • Make academic content accessible, and support curriculum expectations
  • Communicate with and support teachers, staff, and other district personnel to evaluate student academic progress, determine student language acquisition progress, and collaboratively develop, maintain, and implement student ILP objectives
  • Participate in school data team meetings and IEP meetings impacting ELs
  • Continually monitor and record evidence of student growth and progress
  • Attend meetings and professional development opportunities for professional growth and acquisition of job-related information
  • Represent the district and the EL program in a positive manner
  • Schedule, coordinate, and complete district enrollment process for all English learners
  • Communicate information to parents regarding admission procedures, enrollment expectations, district resources, and additional information as requested
  • Receive and coordinate all district interpretation and translation requests
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned
