In absence of the classroom teacher, to provide students with learning activities designed to help them fulfill their potential while carrying out the plans of the teacher.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or above. TN Educator's License preferred or retired teacher.

Requirements include the ability to instruct students and manage their behavior, as well as a strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

The salary is paid on a 3 tier scale depending on education and active licensure.

The substitute is required to maintain decorum and professionalism as well as following all rules and regulations. All subs are under the supervision of the building administrator while present at work.

In absence of the teacher, to provide students will learning activities designed to help them fulfill their potential while carrying out the plans of the teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or above
TN Educator's License preferred or retired teacher
Ability to instruction students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assume all responsibilities assigned to the classroom teacher.

Implement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program.

Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.

Create classroom environment conducive to learning and the social, intellectual, mental, and physical development of the students.

By following teacher lesson plans, present subject matter according to the guidelines established by the TN Department of Education, Board policies, and administrative regulations.

Manage student behavior as outlined in student code of conduct and abide by substitute handbook.

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Maintain confidentiality regarding students and staff personnel information.

Record and turn in money to the office that was collected during the day.

Attend and participate in faculty meetings when serving as a long‑term substitute.

Establish and maintain open communication and professional relationships with parents, students, principals, and teachers.

Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students.

Perform other duties as may be assigned.
