POSITION TITLE:

Interim Special Education Teacher

LOCATION:

Jellico High School

REPORTS TO:

Director of Schools / Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Tennessee teaching license with the appropriate Special Education endorsement(s).
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines governing special education services.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and practices appropriate for students with disabilities.
  • Ability to develop and implement appropriate instructional plans based on individual student needs and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
  • Strong communication, organizational, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
JOB GOAL:

To provide effective specially designed instruction and educational support to students with disabilities at Jellico High School; to implement students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); and to collaborate with school personnel and families to promote student achievement, independence, and successful participation in the school environment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with their IEPs.
  • Implement instructional programs, accommodations, modifications, and services as outlined in each student's IEP.
  • Provide instruction in the least restrictive environment appropriate to the student's individual needs.
  • Assist students in accessing and progressing through the general education curriculum.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons based on individual student needs and abilities.
  • Monitor student performance and collect data to measure progress toward IEP goals.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress, services, and IEP requirements.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, reevaluation meetings, parent conferences, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Assist in the development, review, and revision of IEPs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to provide appropriate accommodations, modifications, interventions, and instructional strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, educational needs, and concerns.
  • Maintain a positive, supportive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Implement appropriate classroom management and behavior support strategies.
  • Support students in developing academic, social, behavioral, communication, and independent living skills as appropriate.
  • Assist students with transition planning and preparation for post-secondary education, employment, training, and independent living when appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information.
  • Complete all required special education documentation accurately and within established timelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of current special education laws, regulations, policies, and evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Participate in professional development activities as required.
  • Work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, counselors, related service providers, support staff, parents, and other appropriate personnel.
  • Follow all Board of Education policies and school procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Schools, Principal, or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Interim position. Length of employment, salary, and other terms and conditions of employment shall be established by the Campbell County Board of Education.
