Description:

The Family Pastor will equip and partner with parents to disciple their children as the primary disciple rs in the home, while leading a cohesive family ministry strategy from birth through high school.

• Must meet the qualifications of an Elder outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
• Must affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

• Lead and shepherd the Family Ministry Team, which currently includes bi-vocational staff.
• Equip and encourage parents to intentionally disciple their children, strengthening the connection between discipleship at church and in the home.
• Provide primary leadership for Student Ministry, including weekly Sunday and Wednesday gatherings.
• Develop and execute Family Ministry strategies throughout the year, including Family Dedication, baptism conversations, camps, and VBS.
• Recruit, train, equip, and develop volunteers across Family Ministry, with particular attention to Student Ministry.
• Be actively engaged in the life of Iron City Baptist Church, intentionally building relationships with members and families.
• Serve as an Elder, sharing in the spiritual oversight and shepherding of the church.
• Assist the Lead Pastor in carrying out and communicating the church’s vision across the congregation.
• Provide biblical and pastoral counseling to individuals and families, referring to licensed Christian counselors when needs extend beyond the appropriate scope of pastoral care, including clinical mental health concerns, abuse, or crises requiring professional intervention.
• Participate in pastoral care, including hospital and homebound visitation.
• Preach 3–5 times annually during Sunday morning worship.
• Engage the local community, maintaining existing relationships and developing new pathways for ministry, particularly within area schools.
• Develop and manage the Family Ministry budget with wisdom and stewardship.

• Model a Christ-centered life consistent with the character and qualifications expected of an Elder.
• Take God’s Word seriously without taking yourself too seriously.
• Maintain a warm, humble, and hospitable demeanor toward members, guests, volunteers, and staff.
• Champion and contribute to Iron City’s Christ-centered culture, mission, and values.
• Faithfully participate in worship, Connection Groups, and the broader life of Iron City.
• Actively participate in a D-Group for personal discipleship and accountability.
• Practice faithful generosity, giving at least 10% of personal income to the ministries of Iron City.
• Work collaboratively with the staff team, willingly assisting other staff members and ministries when needs arise.
• Protect appropriate confidentiality regarding pastoral, personnel, and church matters, except when disclosure is necessary for safety, legal obligations, or appropriate pastoral accountability.
• Maintain a neat and appropriate appearance consistent with the responsibilities of the role.
• Maintain a healthy weekly rhythm of work and rest, including observing the designated staff day off on Friday.
• Abide by Iron City’s Personnel Manual, Staff Expectations, and Staff Values.
