Overview
Since the Army National Guard uses a plethora of electronic systems, power is essential to success. As the Power‑Generation Equipment Repairer, you’ll supply the power to run virtually every aspect of Army activity whenever and wherever it’s needed.
In this specialty, you’ll support military operations day or night by performing preventive maintenance checks on generation equipment, replacing voltage regulators, governors, or circuit cards, and adjusting frequencies and voltages using technical publications to enhance equipment efficiency.
Job Duties- Perform preventive maintenance checks on generation equipment.
- Replace voltage regulators, governors, or circuit cards.
- Adjust frequencies and voltages to enhance equipment efficiency.
- Conduct maintenance on tactical utility and precise power‑generation sets, internal combustion engines, and associated equipment.
- Generator and power‑plant operations
- Electrical generation and distribution
- Diesel generator operation, disassembly, inspection, and maintenance
- Principles of electrical and electronic circuitry
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Interest in electricity and working with large machinery
Unlike many civilian training programs, the Army National Guard pays you while you learn. You will receive a regular paycheck, qualify for tuition assistance, and complete 10 weeks of Basic Training followed by approximately 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Training consists of classroom instruction and field practice in maintaining electrical power systems.

- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
