Job Summary: Responsible for production quality for the assigned mass production unit / area.
Essential FunctionsLevel I:
- Work closely with Production Engineering, Design Engineering and Mass Production Engineers on the improvement of quality systems development and engineering solutions for customer complaints and countermeasures
- Daily Gemba Walks – Perform quality audits /walk through on floor to ensure quality standards and standard conditions are met
- Management of Internal Findings – manage all internal findings with countermeasures to continuously improve quality
- Management of Customer Complaints – Be the lead contact for the customer quality engineers in the investigation and countermeasure.
- System Improvements – Find and administer quality system improvement
- Techs and Auditors Supervision – Although the engineer is not directly responsible for the shift techs and auditors they will be working on a daily basis in a supervisor role.
- PFMEA / Bully Testing Meeting
- Review lessons learned at Meeting with core team reviewing existing lines.
- Create initial PFMEA / CP /PQS
- Customer / Internal Document Management (PPAP)
- Manage Part Control Plan, PFMEA and Product Quality Standard
- Data Collection System
- Support / Review / analyze daily data for trends as provided by Quality Control Area.
- Improve Measurement efficiency
- Update / manage systems as required
- Ability to interpret results and provide counter measures
- Quality
- Ensure part containment procedures are followed – Control sort cost
- Champion in the resolution of customer complaints / quality issues
- Assist in the development of documents in document control system
- Other duties as assigned by management
Level II:
- All Level I Essential Functions listed above plus:
- PFMEA
- Review PFMEA / CP /PQS
- Ability to interpret results and provide counter measures
- Quality
- Champion of root cause analysis (5Y, Fish Bone Diagrams, Mind Mapping)
- Approval of documents in document control system
- Create Capital Request to minimize risk / improve OEE / calculating ROI
Level III:
- All Level I & II Essential Functions listed above plus:
- Lead / Teach Quality Staff (Techs and Auditors)
- Provide training to staff
- Lead monthly status meetings with Techs and Auditors
- Perform reviews of staff / disciplinary actions
- Perform level up plans for staff
- Provide training to NMQ Engineers / Customer Quality Engineers / Quality Engineers
- Management of Internal Findings – manage all internal findings with countermeasures to continuously improve quality without supervision
- System Improvements – Find and administer quality system improvement / provide training to other engineers
- PFMEA / Bully Testing Meeting
- Train process to other engineering team / Quality Techs and Auditors
- Developing system for constant Bully Testing
- Customer / Internal Document Management (PPAP)
- Ability to find defects and provide system wide improvements to the documents
- Optimize lines for improved quality (PQ and LQ)
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field or equivalent
Level I:
- Minimum of 1 year of previous quality experience and Injection Molding
- Must be able to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing
- Must be able to demonstrate leadership ability and effectively participate and contribute to team projects
- Must be able to read, understand and interpret blue prints
- Must be able to travel offsite on overnight trips (Up to 30%)
- Plastic injection molding experience a requirement
- Experience in common business software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.
- Have good people/interpersonal skills
Level II:
- Minimum of 3 years of previous quality experience and Injection Molding
Level III:
- Minimum of 5 years of previous quality experience and Injection Molding
Physical/Ergonomic Requirements:
- Able to work sitting or standing for extended periods of time
- Company Cell Phone to be provided. It is the expectation that the engineer is in reasonable contact during off hours, vacation time and traveling for the company
