You will be responsible for everything from initial PLC programming and HMI design to on-site commissioning and troubleshooting of complex automated machinery. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex logic puzzles, and is committed to increasing efficiency while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Salary: $70k-$85k+ depending on experience - there is also an annual bonus offered.
Responsibilities- Create and read electrical schematics, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and layout drawings.
- Develop and optimize PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) code and HMI (Human Machine Interface) software from scratch.
- Program and integrate robotic cells, motion control systems, and sensors into existing manufacturing lines.
- Lead the installation and startup of new equipment, ensuring all systems meet operational specifications.
- Analyze system performance data to identify bottlenecks and implement automated solutions to improve cycle times.
- Ensure all control systems adhere to industry safety standards (such as NFPA 70 or ISO 13849).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Hands-on experience with industrial networking protocols (Ether Net/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
- Expert-level ability to use a multimeter and software diagnostics to find the issue.
- Ability to select the right sensors, motors, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and actuators for a specific application.
- Ability to design intuitive interfaces for operators using software like Factory Talk View, Ignition, or WinCC.
- Experience programming 6-axis or SCARA robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA).
- Familiarity with ISO 13849-1 and calculating Performance Levels (PL) for machine safety.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in major PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, or Beckhoff) and SCADA systems.
- Deep understanding of servo systems, gear ratios, and high-precision positioning.
- 1-4 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
