Industrial Engineer
We are looking for an Industrial Engineer to join our Smyrna, TN DRiV team. This position will lead the development and implementation of complex material handling systems and layouts within the Smyrna DC facilities. The role includes implementing automation systems, improving throughput, and reducing operational costs through advanced data analysis and engineering principles.
This opening does not include relocation assistance.
Responsibilities- Identify, plan, and oversee DC improvement projects covering plant safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
- Define project scope and objectives.
- Develop detailed timing plans with functional milestones and execute within established timing.
- Create project financial models that include capital equipment, investment ROI, labor cost/savings, and manage project spending forecasts.
- Provide project updates regularly to the executive leadership team.
- Research and analyze best practices in engineering concepts and trends for applicability; stay current and leverage emerging technologies to benefit DRiV.
- Develop and manage project schedules, cross‑functional deliverables, and detailed timelines.
- Engage third‑party vendors to quote and source equipment and services necessary for projects.
- Provide technical support during implementation, launch, testing, and operational stabilization of new systems.
- Coordinate equipment installation, testing, and capability validation with vendors and cross‑functional teams.
- Evaluate process, tooling, and equipment issues; implement corrective actions and support root cause analysis.
- Create Statements of Work, Scope of Requirements, and supporting engineering documentation, layouts, and process updates.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain is required.
Skills & Experience- 4‑10 years of directly relevant experience in ergonomics or workflow design, AutoCAD or layout design tools, root cause analysis, time study, and labor analysis.
- Experience in process development, SOR development, CAPEX RFQ and quote assessment, and Industry 4.0.
- Strong technical background and passion for distribution technology, with the ability to envision new concepts such as automation, warehouse management systems (WMS), AI and data analytics, and simulation.
- Proven experience and passion for Lean Principles.
- Excellent project management skills, including developing and managing project plans, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, and controlling multiple projects to meet milestones.
- Experience in capital equipment financial model development.
- Experience working in cross‑functional teams in a warehouse, technical, or manufacturing environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels and channels of the organization to resolve issues and overcome barriers.
