Job Summary
The Equipment Specialist (Senior) is responsible for specialized work involved in planning, testing, receiving, storing, assembling, adjusting, and repairing station equipment, including power transformers, reactors, current transformers, switches, circuit breakers, circuit switchers, potential devices, regulators, power cables, oil, paint, and all associated accessories.
Essential Job Functions & Tasks- Join the TFS Dedicated Team to perform FAC-008 field verification work within the reporting region.
- Obtain a Part-107 drone operator license, as drone‑based evidence collection is the primary method at EHV stations.
- Conduct routine, emergency, and special tests on station electrical equipment.
- Prepare and maintain detailed records of station electrical equipment.
- Analyze test results and advise on corrective measures for other groups.
- Develop and assist with presentations for Centralized Station Electrician Training Schools.
- Coordinate bidding contracts and monitor contractor performance.
- Investigate failures or malfunctions of electrical equipment, report findings, and recommend corrective actions.
- Verify installation details and release equipment for operation.
- Perform or direct modernization and rebuilding of station electrical equipment.
Associate’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance technology, or equivalent education and/or experience (e.g., military training and technical/technician work such as aviation or nuclear instrumentation).
Work ExperienceEquipment Specialist: minimum 3 years in station or protection & control related activities. Equipment Specialist Senior: minimum 5 years in station or protection & control related activities.
Other RequirementsPhysical demand level:
Heavy (exerting 50–100 pounds of force occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10–20 pounds constantly).
Good working knowledge of PCs and various types of test equipment is required.
Compensation and BenefitsBase salary ranges:
Equipment Specialist $87,633–$109,544 per year;
Equipment Specialist Senior $98,993–$128,689 per year.
