• Supervises engineering projects, survey or field operations and activities
• Exercises supervision over subordinate personnel
• Examples of Duties
• UNDER ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION
• Enforces safety procedures to insure safe operation of equipment and employee safety
• Prepares and submits cost estimates including equipment, materials, time and number of employees
• Conducts on-site inspections to review and inspect the progress or completion of projects, to determine equipment and materials, to discuss work assignments and problems, and to investigate and resolve complaints
• Supervises the engineering function of construction projects
• Reviews and assigns engineering projects, surveys and field investigations, and approves construction and site plans for compliance to engineering standards
• Attends meetings and provides information on engineering projects
• Prepares and negotiates engineering construction contracts

• Reviews preliminary development plans and subdivision plans for compliance with local, state and federal regulations
• Reviews and approves construction plans for compliance with design standards and approved development plans, including issuing encroachment permits and setting and tracking bonds
• Determines scope of traffic impact studies, and reviews traffic impact studies related to development proposals
• Attends meetings and provides information on traffic and transportation issues related to development proposals
• Conducts site visits
• Evaluates policies and procedures and identifies improvements
• Performs related work
