Job Summary

The Universal Banker is a versatile and customer-focused role that combines the responsibilities of a teller and personal banker. This position is responsible for providing exceptional service while performing a variety of banking functions including conducting transactions, opening new accounts, resolving customer issues, and identifying sales opportunities. The Universal Banker helps customers meet their financial goals by offering suitable bank products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet customers and provide a welcoming and professional experience.
  • Handle routine financial transactions (deposits, withdrawals, payments, check cashing, etc.) efficiently and accurately.
  • Open and maintain customer accounts including checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, and safe deposit boxes.
  • Assist customers with online/mobile banking, debit cards, and other digital services.
  • Scan, index and review documents.
  • Proactively identify customer needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services (e.g., loans, credit cards, insurance, investments).
  • Educate customers on account features and bank policies.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Support branch operations and meet sales goals as part of the team.
  • Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of customer information.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Qualifications Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field preferred.
Experience
  • 1–2 years of retail banking, customer service, or sales experience preferred.
  • Cash handling experience a plus.
Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Sales aptitude and customer service focus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and banking systems.
Work Environment
  • This role is performed in a professional bank branch environment.
  • May involve occasional travel between branch locations.
  • Requires standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lbs (e.g., cash drawers, documents).
Schedule
  • Full-time
  • Includes Saturdays and extended hours based on branch needs.
