Controller, Finance & Banking, Financial Reporting

Summertown Metals is looking for a self-motivated individual to be a Controller in our finance department on our Contracting side. This is a full-time position that is eligible for benefits that include medical, dental, vision, accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, STD, LTD, life, 401K with a company match, vacation and PTO. Must possess an Accounting degree.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Execute month-end processing for financial statement preparation
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Reconcile all bank accounts
  • Prepare daily deposits and banking research
  • Journal entry preparation
  • Review financial statements and research GL accounts before CFO review
• Maintain fixed assets spreadsheet monthly and record additions/ disposals
• Debit card holder / Credit card expense reports, and receipts
  • Categorize reported expenses for journal entries
  • Ensure all transactions are recorded and investigate abnormal / potential fraudulent charges
• Periodic reporting
  • Sales Tax reporting/payment
  • Workers Comp reporting/ payment / accrual
• Assist CFO in
  • Budget/forecasting preparation
  • Improvement in Internal Controls
  • Mentor, coach, assist and motivate staff
  • Improve accounting efficiency / better procedures
  • Documentation of improved Internal Controls
  • Ensure STM Contracting/ Concrete books are accurate and up to date
  • Assist in accounting for new location in Hayden Alabama
• Other Special Projects
• Reviewing and recommending process flows and improvements to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely financial reporting
