Position General Summary

Occupational therapists develop individualized treatment plans based on the evaluation of patients. Occupational therapists provide direct patient care and delegate appropriately to support staff. Occupational therapists provide ongoing direction to patient care and evaluate outcomes. This position is an Essential position at the facility to ensure efficient operations and patient care. Employees hired into an Essential position are expected to report to work for their scheduled shifts regardless of the environmental weather and road conditions that may exist.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Initiates occupational therapy services upon referral with appropriate diagnosis.
  • Develops treatment plans including short- and long-term goals.
  • Regularly assesses patient progress status through short-term goal appraisal.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of specific conditions, diseases, and treatment therapies for specific populations.
  • Advises on adaptive equipment to help patients with daily activities.
  • Develops physical rehabilitation programs to help clients regain lost skills.
  • Documents timely and accurately (to include initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries), and meets requirements of chart audit or third‑party review.
  • Provides and monitors care to determine the appropriate outcomes.
  • Utilizes a collaborative interdisciplinary process to provide appropriate patient/family education.
  • Assesses patient/family learning needs, abilities, and readiness to learn, and integrates needs into plan of care.
  • Provides appropriate patient care and clinical information for continuing care based on the patients’ needs as needed from time of admission to time of discharge.
  • Provides appropriate patient care and clinical information to other health‑care professionals for continuing care.
  • Demonstrates a concern for efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Facility General Responsibilities
  • Attend facility new‑hire orientation as scheduled by HR.
  • Complete department orientation initial competency within 7 days of hire date.
  • Complete department initial skills competency within 90 days of hire date.
  • Follow facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures.
  • Respect cultural and religious practices of patients from all backgrounds.
  • Follow HIPAA regulations at all times.
  • Be punctual and dependable for assigned shifts.
  • Dress within the dress code requirements of the facility.
  • Identify all patients using at least two identifiers verbally (name and DOB), and by checking .
  • Follow hospital‑wide and department‑specific policies and procedures.
  • Must interact with physicians, guests, staff, and patients pleasantly, cooperatively, and effectively.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Sound understanding of occupational therapy dynamics and workflow.
  • Sound understanding of occupational therapy practice.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills with ability to communicate appropriately with all age groups.
  • Versatile knowledge of basic computer skills with a preferred skill set in information technology, iCloud capabilities, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform under stress and cope with difficult situations.
  • Good time‑management and organizational skills.
  • Continued practice of good stewardship as a representative member of the occupational therapy department as well as the hospital unit as a whole.
  • Must be able to work as a functioning member of the various team situations that a health‑care setting demands.
Position Requirements :
Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from a university certified by the ACOTE or AOTA.
  • Certified by the National Board for Certification.
  • Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements.
Working Conditions
