T&WM Technical Services Unit Manager Position Overview
This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the Nuclear Fuel Services (NFS) Waste Programs, Waste Engineering, and Waste Certification/oversight in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as site‑specific waste acceptance criteria. It serves as the principal technical liaison with off‑site treatment and disposal facilities.

Your Day to Day as a T&WM Technical Services Unit Manager- Lead and provide direction to technical staff in waste characterization, waste certification, and waste programs.
- Formulate programs and procedures to assure compliance with NRC, EPA, & DOT regulations and the site‑specific waste acceptance criteria for each disposal facility (NNSS, WCS, Energy Solutions).
- Develop and maintain cost‑benefit analysis for off‑site transportation and waste disposal cost, including the management of contractual and funding allocations.
- Provide technical direction to plant personnel in the characterization and management of waste.
- Coordinate the development of employee training programs applicable to waste management principles.
- Establish and maintain liaison with all plant functions to assure integration of waste management principles.
- Cultivate and maintain technical relationships with off‑site facilities/customers/vendors such as NNSS, WCS, BPMI, state agencies, NOG, Perma‑Fix, Westinghouse, BWXT, Energy Solutions and others as required.
- Work with other T&WM Unit Managers to develop and maintain a safe, compliant, and effective waste management program.
- Direct and control the purchase of equipment, goods, and services as required to support NFS’ T&WM Programs.
B.
A. or
B. S. degree – Science or Engineering preferred OR 8 years of operations supervisory/management experience with knowledge of DOT and RCRA regulations.
With a
B. S. degree, nine to ten years of supervisory/management experience in a technical production environment, nuclear facility, or military facility.
Without a
B. S. degree, over 14 years of supervisory/management experience in a technical production environment, nuclear facility, or military facility and knowledge of DOT and RCRA regulations.
The base salary range for this position in Tennessee is expected to be between $114,000 and $180,000 per year. Total compensation may also include an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and other benefits. The company reserves the right to modify the base salary as appropriate.
