About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of a key power plant facility in East London . This leadership position is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all power generation equipment and systems. You will lead a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, focusing on optimizing plant performance, managing budgets, and upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.
This is a critical role for a seasoned professional committed to excellence in the energy sector, contributing to the stability of power supply in the Eastern Cape and beyond, within a structured and safety-conscious operational framework.
- Direct and manage all aspects of power plant operations , including generation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to maximize efficiency, minimize downtime, and reduce costs.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Manage the operational budget, controlling expenses and optimizing resource allocation.
- Lead, train, and mentor the operations and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Oversee the planning and execution of planned maintenance activities and emergency response procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 5 years in a management or supervisory role.
- Proven experience managing operations for conventional or renewable energy power plants .
- Strong understanding of power generation technologies, control systems, and maintenance practices.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex operational challenges and drive performance improvements.
