Job Description / Responsibilities Position SummaryThe Stave Mill Line Lead is responsible for the safety, production, and quality performance of an assigned shift within the stave mill operation. This role provides day-to-day direction to production team members, monitors all positions daily, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The Line Lead is a servant leader who leads with integrity, accountability, and teamwork while ensuring production goals are met in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities Safety & Compliance- Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure all Team Members comply with Company and OSHA safety requirements
- Keep safety top of mind at all times and prevent unsafe work practices
- Report all safety concerns, near misses, and incidents immediately
- Participate in safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations
- Maintain clean, organized, and debris‑free work areas
- Lead day-to-day production activities for the assigned shift
- Provide direction and oversight to production Team Members across all positions
- Monitor production flow, staffing, and work assignments to meet output goals
- Ensure work is performed according to established standards and procedures
- Support accurate execution of production schedules
- Ensure product meets quality specifications and performance standards
- Monitor quality throughout the shift and address issues in real time
- Support the delivery of defect‑free product produced on time and in full
- Understand and work within established standards to deliver consistent, high‑quality results
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to Team Members
- Promote teamwork, fairness, and respectful treatment of all employees
- Support skill development through training, coaching, and on‑the‑job learning
- Improve at least one skill annually as agreed upon with supervision
- Actively participate in personal career development planning
- Monitor all positions daily and identify opportunities for improvement
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts, including TPM and PDCA activities
- Recommend ideas to improve efficiency, quality, and cost performance
- Support KPI action plans and productivity initiatives
- Ensure operations comply with all applicable local, state, federal, and regulatory requirements
- Support environmental programs including air emissions, wastewater, and waste management as applicable
- Take corrective action when issues are identified and elevate concerns as needed
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong integrity, accountability, and teamwork skills
- Physically capable of working on feet, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and lifting
- Experience in logging, sawmill, lumber, or wood products manufacturing
- Experience with inventory control or production tracking processes
- Familiarity with continuous improvement concepts (TPM, PDCA)
- Ability to operate industrial equipment as required
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance
Ability to work in an industrial environment with physical demands
- Ability to communicate with all levels of an org
- Excellent oral & written communication skills
- 2 years relevant experience in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2 years Experience in the logging, sawmill or lumber industry
