Position OverviewThe Holecutter is responsible for drilling and cutting holes in boat hulls, decks, and small parts. This role involves using various tools and equipment to ensure precise and clean cuts, adhering to manufacturing specifications and quality standards.
Essential Functions- Locate and mark hole positions on fiberglass hulls, decks, and molded components using blueprints, templates, measurements, and work instructions to ensure proper alignment for component installation.
- Cut, drill, and trim holes in fiberglass parts using hand‑held drills, hole saws, grinders, routers, and related cutting tools according to specifications and quality standards.
- Perform rough trimming and finish grinding around cut openings to ensure proper fit, smooth edges, and readiness for assembly or installation.
- Inspect drilled and cut openings to verify size, placement, and quality, correcting defects or irregularities as required.
- Safely operate cutting, drilling, and grinding equipment while following all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and dust control practices associated with fiberglass manufacturing.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition to support production efficiency and safety standards.
- Safely operate forklifts and/or tugger vehicles to transport molds, materials, components, and finished parts within the facility.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to safely operate hand‑held cutting and drilling tools, including drills, hole saws, grinders, and related equipment used to cut fiberglass components.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, measurements, templates, and basic blueprints to locate and cut holes accurately.
- Ability to visually inspect cut openings for size, placement, and quality and make minor corrections as needed.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, face shields, gloves, and eye protection, for extended periods while cutting fiberglass.
- Ability to work scheduled hours, including overtime, as required to meet production demands.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, noisy environment across multiple departments.
- Previous experience in fiberglass cutting, drilling, trimming, or grinding in a boat or composite manufacturing environment.
- Experience using hole saws, diamond blades, grinders, or routers on fiberglass components.
- Familiarity with marine manufacturing processes and component installation requirements.
- Experience working in a team‑based, production manufacturing environment with quality and productivity standards.
- Prior experience reading shop drawings or templates for component placement.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to fiberglass dust, noise, and vibration from cutting and grinding equipment.
- Frequent use of respirators, masks, gloves, hearing protection, and eye protection is required when cutting fiberglass materials.
- Work may involve standing for extended periods, repetitive hand and arm motions, bending, reaching, and working in awkward or confined positions within boat hulls or decks.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, and airborne particles associated with fiberglass cutting and grinding operations is common, with ventilation and dust‑control measures in place.
- Overtime, early shifts, or extended hours may be required to support production schedule.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $20.50 to $23.18, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job‑related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
