About the Role

The Welder/Fabricator II fabricates a wide variety of small to large structural steel products including guards, chutes, covers, conveyors, tanks, frames, and flumes constructed of material from 14 gauge through ¼” carbon steel plate and stainless steel. This role requires a higher level of independence, proficiency in multiple welding processes, and the ability to consistently produce quality work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding based on project needs; adjust current, voltage, and gas flow to ensure proper metal fusion.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment with minimal supervision to meet production and quality standards.
  • Select appropriate materials and metal gauges based on job specifications.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, layouts, sketches, and work instructions to meet production requirements.
  • Use hand and power tools to assemble and finish fabricated components.
  • Remove slag, burrs, and sharp edges using grinders and sanders to achieve a clean finish.
  • Inspect completed parts for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications; mark with proper part numbers.
  • Troubleshoot minor fit‑up or welding issues and make necessary adjustments.
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to safely move materials and finished products.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Assist in training or mentoring entry‑level welders as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
  • High school diploma and technical school or welding certification.
  • 5+ years of welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing or shop environment.
  • Proficient in MIG welding; working knowledge of TIG welding required;
    Sub Arc welding equipment experience a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols with minimal guidance.
  • Experience selecting proper materials and performing fit‑up.
  • Ability to use standard measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares) with accuracy.
  • Experience using hand and power tools (grinders, drills, saws).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Solid math skills (fractions, measurements, and basic calculations).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet production deadlines.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (assisted or unassisted) and stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane experience.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety guidelines.
