Production Manager, Operations Manager
Royal Oak Enterprises, LLC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of branded and private label charcoal, manufactured fire logs, fire building products, matches and toothpicks. We also produce railroad cross ties, charcoal briquettes, all-natural lump charcoal, fire starters, and offer brands such as Pine Mountain, Diamond and Specialty Wood Products.
Position SummaryThe Operations Manager leads the production department and directs all aspects of the production operation to ensure compliance and achievement of company goals. The role involves ensuring safe, cost-effective plant operation, compliance with regulations and company policies, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities- Plan, organize and direct the Manufacturing and Packaging departments.
- Work with other functional leaders (internal to plant and corporate) to develop and implement plans to efficiently use materials, labor and equipment to meet production targets.
- Organize and facilitate as needed production shutdown/start-up for maintenance purposes.
- Achieve project or departmental objectives within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters.
- Identify and resolve safety concerns or issues, including accident/incident reporting, investigation and resolution.
- Ensure that team members are responsible for their safety, the safety of their team members and the quality of our production.
- Develop and deliver Cost Savings plans to achieve annual Savings Goals.
- Provide full cycle performance management support for direct reports including career development plans.
- Communicate with internal and external customers to ensure project plans and work in progress will meet desired outcomes.
- Track staffing requirements to ensure adequate staffing is in place as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations or a related field.
- 5+ years of direct management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Results driven leader within a time-sensitive environment.
- Strategic thinker, planner, and able to drive continuous improvement and achieve results.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, motivational, and communication skills.
- Firm understanding of KPIs and delivering results.
- Experience in developing and planning forecast and executing operating budgets.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers including MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing experience.
- High professional ethics, dependability, good judgment and ability to take decisive action.
- Adherence to company safety and quality standards.
- Casual manufacturing facility.
- Walking and climbing stairs in a plant environment.
- Exposure to weather elements.
- On call – carries a cell phone and responds to after-hour emergencies.
