Packaging Technician
As a Packaging Technician at Haleon, you will support the packaging area by analyzing root causes, improving processes, and reducing costs. You will work 12‑hour shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, with every other weekend off.
Responsibilities- Operate fully automated toothpaste packaging lines at speeds up to 450 tubes per minute.
- Handle packaging materials and finished goods (e.g., cases of tubes, cartons, bundle of shippers, rolls of labels, slip sheets, caps, pallets, etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness of the area and equipment.
- Perform autonomous maintenance activities to keep lines at top performance.
- Assist maintenance technicians on preventive maintenance activities.
- Conduct inventories of packaging materials and products.
- Perform all activities with a focus on safety, compliance, GMP, and good manufacturing practices.
- Record transactions in SAP to manage materials from receipt to final product.
- Conduct frequent quality checks and document results accurately.
- Log batch activity on the computerized system.
- Identify and act on process improvement opportunities.
- Search for cost savings and waste‑reduction opportunities.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work 12‑hour shifts and be available for every other weekend off.
- Basic computer skills (data entry, email, file access, Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Manufacturing or production environment experience.
- Packaging operator experience.
- Experience with equipment/machinery maintenance and changeovers.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- OJT certification on one packaging line (line clearance, changeover, quality).
- Ability to lift up to 55 pounds, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work overtime and operate industrial power lifts such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
- Basic math skills (percentages, fractions, decimals) and familiarity with measurement schemes.
- Certification in all packaging technologies (TFS‑80, TFS‑30, FPS‑4) as required for full responsibilities.
Starting rate: $24.50/hr plus 5% performance bonus and a 10% shift differential.
