Position Overview
The Machinist/Metal Fabricator is responsible for manufacturing, assembling, and repairing metal components and precision parts using conventional and CNC machinery, and various fabrication tools. This role requires the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, maintain tight tolerances, and ensure all work meets strict quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is skilled in machining and metal fabrication processes, detail‑oriented, mechanically inclined, and capable of working independently or as part of a production team.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate conventional and CNC machines including lathes, mills, grinders, and fabrication equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and CAD-based specifications.
- Measure, cut, shape, and machine metal materials using saws, shears, torches, brakes, rollers, and CNC equipment.
- Fit, assemble, and finish metal parts and structures to meet design specifications.
- Inspect finished products using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Adjust machine settings to control speed, feed, and cutting paths to maintain accuracy and tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on machines and fabrication equipment.
- Document production processes, measurements, and results as required.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and production teams to improve processes and meet production goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following OSHA and company safety guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a machinist, metal fabricator, or similar manufacturing role.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication diagrams.
- Experience with CNC machine operation and/or programming (preferred but not required).
- Strong math, measurement, and mechanical skills.
- Familiarity with precision measurement tools and machining/fabrication equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail, quality focus, and problem‑solving abilities.

- Manual dexterity and strong hand–eye coordination.
- Analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet production deadlines.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to OSHA standards.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing or workshop environment with exposure to noise, heat, metal dust, and machinery.
- Requires standing, bending, and working in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to lift materials up to 50–75 lbs, depending on job requirements.
The pay range for this position is $21.42 to $24.05, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
