Position OverviewPerforms elementary and routine mix and lay‑up of composite materials, fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto mold surface using various hand tools. Utilization of open mold and vacuum infusion processes. Works with various resins, gelcoats, fiberglass materials, foam, and structural adhesives. Installs wood and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds. Operates a variety of power tools including but not limited to saws, drills, grinders, and overhead hoists.
Locates parts by hand or by utilizing detailed blueprints and work instructions. Sanding of fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds.
- Perform routine mixing and lay‑up of composite materials (fiberglass, resins, catalysts, gelcoats, foam, and adhesives) using open mold and vacuum infusion processes.
- Prepare molds and apply fiberglass materials using hand tools in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
- Sand, grind, and finish fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds to required specifications.
- Install wood cores, inserts, and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and molded parts.
- Operate power tools and equipment such as saws, drills, grinders, sanders, overhead hoists, and related tooling safely.
- Safely operate forklifts and/or tugger vehicles to transport, stage, load, and unload molds, materials, and finished components within the facility.
- Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, reaching; climbing on and through stairs, molds, and staging throughout the shift.
- Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.
- Flexibility to work overtime, both planned and unplanned, to meet company goals.
- Adhere to all quality standards and new standards as processes evolve.
- Demonstrate record of dependability and reliability in prior work or professional experience.
- Work well with team professionals.
- Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
- Work in close proximity to co‑workers and in areas with limited space.
- Work in a fast‑paced, noisy environment across multiple departments.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Skills in forklift, overhead hoist, computer, fiberglass and/or gel‑coat applications preferred.
- 3+ years of manufacturing experience; marine industry experience highly preferred.
- May be required to work in a non‑air‑conditioned area.
- Regularly required to work at heights on platforms, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs.
- Fast‑paced, noisy environment.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $20.50 to $23.18 per hour. Compensation will vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, and geographic location.
