Job Overview
Mueller Water Products, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries. We are looking for a CNC Machinist to work the 2nd Shift (4x10 schedule, Monday through Thursday) at our Kimball, TN facility.
Primary Responsibilities- Read blueprints, engineering plans, specifications, orthographic drawings, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Program and operate CNC mills and lathes, including setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches, and performing basic math, geometry, and trigonometry calculations.
- Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, stock pushers, and vices, and ensure proper tramming of heads.
- Set up, load, and adjust bar feeder systems.
- Verify machine settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample work pieces, maintaining specifications through drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, and thread chasing operations.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, adjust and reprogram controls, and replace worn tools per manufacturer recommendations.
- Document operations, irregularities, and pass-off information to maintain continuity among work shifts.
- Maintain production and quality logs, keep the work area and department clean, and comply with safety guidelines and the "Stop, Call, Wait" procedure.
- Perform other routine duties as directed by management.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, product drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to set up, program, and operate CNC machines or manual machines.
- Demonstrated commitment to industrial safety standards.
- Strong math skills, including measuring concepts, and proficiency with tools such as thread gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum three years of experience programming, setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machines in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Preferred:
Advanced CNC programming certification.
- Wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs while working.
- Use hands to manipulate objects, frequently sit, stand, walk, and reach within arm’s length.
- Perform tasks that involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching overhead or below shoulder level.
- Ascend or descend ladders or steps in confined spaces, carry or move objects weighing 25-50 pounds, and remain stationary or standing for prolonged periods.
- Use wrists, hands, and fingers for fine or gross manipulation, and conduct close visual inspections of products.
