Sewing Machine Maintenance Technician
This role focuses on performing mechanical maintenance, repair, and adjustment of industrial sewing machines to ensure reliable, high-quality production. You will diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues, carry out preventive maintenance, and keep equipment operating at peak performance in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Perform regular maintenance, tune-ups, and thorough cleaning of sewing machines to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life.
- Replace worn or damaged components such as needles, belts, motors, presser feet, and other small parts, ensuring proper installation and function.
- Calibrate sewing machines for optimal performance, including adjusting timing, alignment, and operating parameters.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on industrial sewing machines using diagnostic testing and systematic troubleshooting methods.
- Conduct effective repairs to minimize downtime on production lines and restore machines to full operating condition.
- Perform detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis to maintain consistent stitch quality and overall machine reliability.
- Adjust machines for different fabrics, stitch types, and garment patterns, including calibrating needle and thread tension and configuring machines for high-speed production.
- Ensure proper stitch formation to prevent skipped stitches, thread breakage, or fabric damage.
- Carry out technical assessments of manufacturing problems related to series tools and implement professional corrections when tool-related issues occur.
- Schedule required equipment repairs and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with the supervisor when technical or quantitative problems arise that cannot be resolved with reasonable effort.
- Change over tooling and machine setups to the appropriate configuration for current operational and production needs.
- Maintain order and cleanliness in the workshop and workstations, following established housekeeping standards.
- Comply with all occupational safety requirements and promote a safe working environment.
- Hands-on experience performing mechanical maintenance on sewing machines, including industrial sewing equipment.
- Proficiency in taking apart small machines and reassembling them correctly after repair or maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving mechanical and basic electrical issues in sewing machines.
- Demonstrated ability in small parts repair, including replacement and adjustment of needles, belts, motors, and presser feet.
- Experience with preventive and preventative maintenance practices to reduce machine failures and downtime.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills within a manufacturing or maintenance technician environment.
- Ability to adjust sewing machines for various fabrics, stitch types, and production requirements, including tension and speed settings.
- Capability to perform diagnostic testing and implement effective repairs under time-sensitive production conditions.
- Attention to detail to maintain consistent stitch quality and machine reliability.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area and adhering to occupational safety standards.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with industrial sewing operations in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with changeover of tooling and configuring machines for different production runs.
- Ability to coordinate repair schedules and communicate equipment status with supervisors or team leads.
- Comfort working independently within a small team environment while managing multiple maintenance tasks.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.

The schedule is structured around four 10-hour shifts, providing a stable full-time opportunity with an extended weekend period. Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a manufacturing setting focused on industrial sewing operations and related tooling.
