Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Under general supervision, the Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Macon County General Hospital. In collaboration with the patient, the patient’s family and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN assesses, plans, implements and coordinates treatment plans for the patient’s medical condition. The RN acts as a Charge Nurse or Staff Nurse.
Position Requirements- Current registered Nursing License in the State of Tennessee.
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- One (1) year experience in acute care; skilled nursing facility experience preferred.
- Current licensure in the State of Tennessee as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS – health care provider.
- Good communication skills, both orally and written.
- Some computer knowledge would be helpful.
- Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

Hospital rooms, common areas, clinical departments, and hospital grounds. Potential hazards include exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, blood or body fluids, extreme conditions, communicable diseases, moving mechanical arts, electrical shock, high pitched noises, needles or other sharp objects, and other hazards as listed.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to climb, kneel, stop and perform assigned duties under semi-stressful situations. Physical demands require performing heavy cleaning projects with short notice. Visual acuity is required to ensure that work is being done correctly. Work is moderately heavy with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds or more with assistance, and pushing up to 300 pounds.
Work also involves considerable walking, standing, pushing and pulling of equipment and frequent lifting of patients with assistance. Must have full use of upper and lower extremities and the ability to walk up to three (3) miles per shift.
This position requires the use of personal protective equipment during various tasks/activities. Personal protective equipment includes, but is not limited to, gloves, masks and safety glasses.
