Job DescriptionOpen Heart Recovery/CVICU Unit - 2nd floor, 4002 Building
Cardiovascular Open Heart Recovery (CVR), is a seven-bed unit offering intensive recovery rooms and critical care services to the immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patient. The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is a five-bed telemetry unit that provides intermediate care to cardiac surgery patients from pre-op care through post‑op care up to discharge. Previous critical care or open‑heart experience is recommended. BCLS and ACLS is/will be required.
Job DutiesThe ICU nurse assesses and identifies patient needs and implements appropriate interventions for the patient. The ICU Nurse establishes and maintains a plan for the delivery of nursing care; assures that nursing care interventions and activities are directed to resolve problems; and performs technical aspects of care competently. ICU nurses must have strong critical thinking skills. The critical care nurse acts as a family and patient resource to guide them through all stages of the patient’s critical care journey.
Minimum Education , Training, and Experience- Active Kentucky License
- BCLS required within 90 days of employment.
- ACLS required within six months for experienced staff nurses and within one year for new graduate nurses.
- Previous critical care or open‑heart experience recommended.
