The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in the Emergency Department, following established nursing models such as ‘Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.’ In collaboration with medical providers and the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, advocates for patients, families, and caregivers, and upholds the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
Responsibilities- Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management and reassesses after intervention.
- Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
- Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Provides exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and proactively resolving needs.
- Teaches patients, families, and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow‑up measures.
- Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
- Teaches patients and families about non‑medicinal follow‑up measures such as a healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
- Prepares patients and caregivers for future self‑management.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within six months of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention obtained within six months of employment start date.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) obtained within six months of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher.
