Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. Pre-employment physical exam required. Valid driver's license required and must be insurable by the University's insurance carrier. Kentucky applicator's license to handle pesticides. May be required to be able to lift up to 50 pounds. May need to work nights, weekends, holidays or during winter breaks in a variety of weather conditions.

Description:

The Groundskeeper position will be responsible for performing work involving the use of large equipment, including mowers, tractors, loaders, trenchers, backhoes, trucks, and other maintenance equipment at the University of Louisville Golf Course. This position will report to the Senior Assistant Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Mows fairways and roughs, greens, and tees.

Operates equipment: turf vac, skip-loader, aerifiers, and sprayers.

Ensures equipment cooling system is working at all times; refills fuel and oil daily; cleans equipment daily; and reports equipment problems or failures to the Equipment Mechanic immediately.

Maintains equipment, including basic preventative maintenance as directed by the Equipment Mechanic or Senior Assistant Superintendent, and returns equipment to the designated location.

Perform basic watering techniques.

Maintain bunkers.

Course set up.

Assist with the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel powered equipment used by the golf course maintenance department.

Assist with routine equipment servicing and preventive maintenance as needed.

Perform minor clubhouse maintenance, such as painting, replacing light bulbs, pressure washing, and similar basic repairs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Working knowledge of safe, efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorized equipment; mechanical aptitude.

Effective organizational and communication skills, including both verbal and written.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
