Position Overview:

Responsible for performing radiological control activities in support of HPDU production operations s role ensures the safe handling of depleted uranium (DU) by conducting radiological surveys, monitoring personnel and work areas, and implementing contamination and exposure controls. The position works closely with operations, safety, and engineering teams to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and support a strong radiological safety culture.

On-site in Jonesborough, Tennessee

Your Day to Day as a HPDU Radiation Control Technician:

* Performs routine and special radiological surveys, including contamination, radiation, and airborne radioactivity monitoring.

* Collects and analyzes air samples and smears to assess radiological conditions.

* Implements and maintains contamination control measures to prevent the spread of radioactive materials.

* Establishes and monitors radiological control boundaries, postings, and access controls.

* Supports personnel dosimetry programs, including issuance, tracking, and collection of dosimeters.

* Performs personnel contamination surveys and ensure proper decontamination when necessary.

* Provides radiological coverage for operations, maintenance, and waste handling activities involving DU.

* Ensures work is performed in accordance with Radiological Work Permits (RWPs) and applicable procedures.

* Ensures compliance with applicable TDEC, OSHA, and site-specific radiological safety requirements.

* Maintains accurate records of radiological surveys, monitoring data, and personnel exposure.

* Operates, maintains, and performs source checks on radiological monitoring instruments.

* Identifies and reports instrument malfunctions or calibration issues.

* Responds to radiological alarms, abnormal conditions, or contamination events.

* Supports investigation and documentation of radiological incidents or near misses.

* Assists in training personnel on radiological safety practices, procedures, and requirements.

* Reinforces proper radiological controls and safe work practices in the field.

* Promotes a strong radiological safety culture by adhering to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.

* Actively participates in safety meetings, briefings, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

* Associate degree in Health Physics, Radiation Protection, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

* 2+ years of experience in radiological control, preferably in nuclear, DU processing, or chemical manufacturing environments.

* Must be able to work any shift.

* Knowledge of radiological protection principles, contamination control, and monitoring techniques.

* Experience with radiological instrumentation and survey methods.

* Ability to interpret procedures, regulations, and technical guidance.

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

* Good communication and teamwork skills.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and radiological data systems.

* Must be a U.S. citizen.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Relevant certifications (e.g., NRRPT) are preferred.
