Job SummaryBlack and Veatch (BV) is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Electrical & Instrumentation QC Inspector. This position is accountable for assuring the Quality of the craft personnel and subcontractors installed product meets all project requirements as depicted within the Plans, Specifications and Code cited references.
Key Responsibilities- Assures work on-site meets applicable codes and specifications
- Safely observe and carefully prepare inspection reports with photos and illustrations
- Performs task assignments for the MOPO, Shutdown, Commissioning, and Start-Up Teams
- Surveillance/Audits of site craft personnel and/or subcontractor Quality Control Programs Reviews and controls documentation for the certification of construction equipment and testing equipment.
- Reviews turnover packages prior to Commissioning Startup Up handoff
- Surveillance of General and Electrical production teams’ installations as it relates to Medium Voltage Electrical, Process Control Instrumentation, SCADA and MODCOM
- Inspection of conduit support racks, conduit installation, control piping, tubing, wiring, instruments, valves, SCADA and communication systems, and all related equipment.
- Conduct visual and analytical inspection of equipment to verifying proper operation Assists in the coordination of punch list walkdowns/inspections; establishes and manages the punch list.
Acts in capacity of a "lead person." Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.
Preferred Qualifications- Electrical Inspection in the Heavy Commercial, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Nuclear, Military, Treatment Plant fields
- Electrical Inspection projects may include Treatment, Power, Hydro Plants; and Industrial Facilities
- Non-Inspection Electrical Experience as a certified QEW in Heavy Commercial, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Nuclear, Military fields
- B.S. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering preferred w/ 4+ years Construction experience.
Experience:
- 3+ years as Superintendent with degree, or 5+ years without.
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
- See and hear naturally or with correction.
- Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
- Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
- Requires repetitive movement.
- May require work above 5 feet in height.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
- Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

- Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.
