Bakery Clerk Part Time

Job Summary

Proofs and bakes all unfinished bakery goods by following each item’s product handling information using ovens and/or other equipment. Unpacks bakery goods from the freezer and displays proper amounts based on bakery production chart recommendations, including safe handling and storage instructions. Maintains all cleaning and safety standards within the bakery department.

• Carry out job functions and responsibilities as assigned, supporting club policies, procedures and compliance.
• Proof bakery items, bake unfinished goods, follow product handling information using ovens and equipment.
• Unpack bakery goods from freezer and display appropriate amounts per production chart recommendations.
• Package freshly baked goods including cookies, pastries, muffins, rolls, breads, pies, cakes, and other items.
• Decorate special order or case products.
• Rotate and store bakery products following food safety, freshness and product‑handling policies.
• Receive, inspect, and store bakery shipments, and ensure restocking and rotation.
• Check for out‑of‑date products daily, following salvage and stale product policies.
• Generate labels and price tickets, perform price checks, and ensure accurate pricing.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, display fixtures, food surfaces, ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, display racks, and tables.
• Operate and handle bakery equipment using proper methods per safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain club policies and procedures; perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Provide service excellence through all points of contact.
• Resolve and deescalate member concerns.
• Maintain a safe and positive environment for members.
• Daily commitment to GOLD Member Standards: greet, anticipate, appreciate (GAA) and provide fast, friendly, full, fresh, clean service.
• Work with commitment and pride to deliver GOLD‑Grand opening look daily:
  • All items stocked and promotional plans executed.
  • Maintain visible accurate signage.
  • Keep area clean and organized.
• Understand how to access and read production and financial performance reporting for the department.
• Show consistency in execution to positively impact business.
• Answer questions and recommend bakery items.
• Answer member calls and take special orders.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential to this job.

• Experience working in a bakery or customer‑service oriented environment preferred.
• Knowledge of bakery products preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

• Most of the time spent moving around non‑hard surfaces; may need to bend, reach, push, lift, or stoop.
• Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds; heavier objects may need assistance.
• Located in a comfortable indoor environment with exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
• Frequent exposure to cleaning agents.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non‑discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $16.25.
