Scientific Assistant
Opportunity: As a Scientific Assistant within the School of Molecular Biosciences, you will conduct microbiological and biochemical assays, including bacterial culture, serial dilutions, plating for viable count enumeration, and related biochemical procedures. You will maintain detailed records, ensure quality control, and support daily laboratory operations. You may supervise and train undergraduate researchers, assist with stability testing, and maintain a safe working environment.
No journal publications or public presentations on project specifics are expected.

Employee type:
Admin. Professional (+) (Fixed Term). Full‑time, 100% FTE. Overtime eligible. Temporary position expected to end on June 30, 2027; renewal depends on funding and need.
Salary: $3,750.85 – $5,397.56 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
- Achieve a bachelor's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, food science, plant pathology, or a closely related field.
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional research experience. Equivalency for educational credentials is allowed on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable, detail‑oriented, and professional demeanor suited to a focused laboratory environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One or more years of hands‑on laboratory experience in microbiology, biochemistry, or a related field.
