Exploration Geophysicist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Exploration Geophysicist to join their growing team in East London . This position is crucial for identifying and evaluating new exploration opportunities by interpreting seismic and other geophysical data. You will collaborate closely with geologists and reservoir engineers to mature prospects and contribute to the company's strategic asset portfolio. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply advanced geophysical techniques within the diverse geological settings of the Eastern Cape and beyond, contributing to the success of our client's oil and gas exploration endeavors.

• Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify geological structures and strati graphic traps.
• Integrate geophysical data with well logs and other subsurface information.
• Perform seismic attribute analysis, velocity modeling, and inversion studies.
• Generate and mature exploration prospects, assessing geological risk.
• Collaborate with the exploration and development teams on subsurface modeling and interpretation.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations of geophysical findings.
• Stay current with advancements in geophysical technologies and methodologies.

• Master's degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related geoscience field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in exploration geophysics , specifically within the oil and gas industry .
• Proficiency in seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Opend Tect).
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and interpretation principles.
• Experience with 3D seismic data interpretation and attribute analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
